THE PROCEDURE: BREAST AUGMENTATION

Any healthy woman over 18 is a good candidate for the breast implant. However, if you have an active infection in any body part; currently pregnant or breastfeeding, you won’t be a good candidate. The infection has to be controlled and if you are breast-feeding then it has to be stopped before doing the procedure. A pre- operative mammogram is necessary to rule out any pathology. On average, the breast augmentation surgery lasts about one to two hours. You are first administered anesthesia. When it takes effect, the surgeon makes an incision in each breast to create pockets within your breast tissues. Markings are done in sitting or standing position. Implants will be positioned for optimal appearance and symmetry. Incisions are closed after the implant. You may be asked to put cold compresses on your breasts for the first 48 hours after surgery.
